I do however see one tiny little flaw, nothing major, in both the anatomy and the lighting however. It seems to me as if Fern's left hand is just a smidge bigger than her right. Usually I wouldn't notice that, but the... ball of energy? that she's conjuring in her hands draws your eyes to that part of the picture and makes it more noticeable. The thing that gets me with the lighting is again, nothing major, but the extra bit of yellow that you have from Fern's energy sphere seems out of place on the tear in Dirks' shirt on his chest. There's no reason I can think of that it should be there. It seems a bit off.
Those are the only two things that I would change, and overall, this art is -great-. Top notch. Keep up the good work. :3
The lighting on the tear does seem off. I was trying to make the light bounce off the chest but forgot to consider how the tear would make the lighting different. Or maybe the light wouldn't bounce off the chest there anyway? Hmm...
And I will definitely work on proportions, like you pointed out with the hands. Thanks for the tips!
I was busy with APs, but that's really no excuse.
Anyway.
I really love the feel of this piece.
I dunno, the grimness of the scenario mixed with them working together gives you a major feel for their close sibling relationship.
Plus, they look alike! Which is majorly cool.
